psa adhd gang, people recreationally using or abusing stimulants is not why they’re hard to get, they’re hard to get because doctors can be absolute motherfuckers with egos the size of saturn who like to play god with people’s lives. if they didn’t have the “drug seeking behavior” line to use as a tool to be a dick, they’d just say “tsk tsk you’re obviously wrong about your own symptoms” a little more often than they already do. peace and love on planet amphetamines.
and this gets me because. it’s like there’s a contingent of adhders who heard that we’re predisposed to substance abuse issues and, rather than connecting the dots of “substance abuse is often a coping mechanism resorted to in the wake of insufficient care for a psychological disorder, stigma against addicts is one more link in the chain of systemic societal ableism,” instead thought “drug users are dangerous and selfish people who are out to do harm to uniquely vulnerable people like me.” for a while I put this mindset down to the lack of experience and time to process ideas that comes with youth; it still sucks, but the people I knew in middle school who had bad takes about drugs and alcohol no longer think that way now we’re in college, and mostly they changed their minds on their own instead of needing me or someone else to call them out directly. but there are subsets of adhd communities who used these talking points when their average age was 15 in 2016 and are still using them now when their average age is 22. so maybe the hot new trend for 2023 should be interrogating the propaganda you’ve been fed about drug users for your whole life and considering whether these ideas hold up to compassionate scrutiny and who benefits if you believe them.
Sorry to add on but another reason it’s such a pain in the ass to get ADHD meds, at least in the US, is because of them being a controlled substance, a classification that does absolutely nothing to actually stop people from abusing them and instead just exists to fill prisons and make the life of anyone who needs them for medical reasons a living hell. This is why decriminalizing drugs and abolishing the prison system is crucial to helping addicts AND patients as well as everyone else that our society is happy to leave to rot in miserable, unlivable conditions.

this is a poster i made for my call to action assignment in humanities! it’s a bunch of basic and easy stretches for people who sit and work at a desk all day (me)
the idea is that you’d put the poster up above ur desk and do the stretches every 30 minutes or so,, the whole routine won’t take more than about 6 minutes to complete and when done regularly it can prevent wrist, shoulder, neck and back pain! :)
all these stretches can be done while sitting (although i HIGHLY recommend you stand up and move around while taking a break from working)

I’ve never ONCE seen one of these and not being just like…absolutely riddled with tension, so. Keep passing them around, I guess!
im in so much physical pain i might died
disgusting evil bastard muscle

Wearing diapers, needing a bed pad (chux) or wearing underwear liners for incontinence is actually way more common than a lot of people think. When I started having to wear them, it was really stressful and upsetting until a lot of other people in my life were like “hey, I use those too!”
So if you’re having accidents, leaking, having too much moisture, whatever the case may be, try incontinence products. They’re totally normal and a part of a lot of people’s lives. It’s such a relief to not worry about having an accident, you deserve that feeling too.

just saw a tiktok clip of a person saying “intrusive thoughts are just your intuition!” I need sane people to like. stop. y'all need to stop taking terms like delusions and intrusive thoughts & using them wrong AND saying shit that is going to make people with actual intrusive thoughts extremely distressed & misled. stop it!!!!!!
anyways your intrusive thoughts mean nothing about you physically or spiritually. they are just thoughts. if you have intrusive thoughts / delusions / hallucinations / etc. & interested in spirituality I would highly recommend finding other people who have & recognize those conditions & have ways of engaging with spirituality that do not encourage you to see everything as a Sign or Message. you can be neurodivergent/mentally ill/mad and spiritual but you absolutely cannot trust sane people to be fucking normal about it
It’s okay to do things to help you even if they seem silly.
Today I read about “door pants”. Leaving a pair of pants by the door in case someone shows up. I think it was meant as a joke but thinking about it, it actually would help me.
I’ve missed important deliveries and people showing up because I don’t wear pants in the house. When I’m home, the sensation bothers me too much. But when people show up at the door, I panic and avoid the door because I’m not sure how to fix the problem of no pants. Them being in a drawer in my room and having to pick them out just makes me freeze.
So, long story short, I now have a pair of door pants. Something that seems silly that will really help me. And I’m so proud of that.
Do the things that help you. No matter how silly they may seem.
The amount of asks I’ve received telling me that my “door pants” are ridiculous and I could just use a robe. I don’t feel comfortable using a robe. Door pants work for me. That’s the point of the post. 🤷♀️
Thank you for these tags @fibrefox. You’re 100% right.
It’s not about what others think would solve your problem. It’s about the solutions that work for you. That’s an important message to share.

Not every day has to count. Some days are for repairing, resting, mourning. You don’t have to perform every day. Some days are for doing nothing. For sleeping all day or being on your phone. Relaxing is ok, allowed and encouraged. Do what you need to do.
Happy Disability Pride to all the people who are “too young to be this sick.” There are TONS of us who are young and sick. Ableists should look at those numbers instead of looking at us with disbelief. We’re here. We’re the proof that there isn’t a such thing as “too young” for this shit. Yeah, I have 9 mental illnesses and counting, and I’m stuck in bed at 25, what’s it to ya? Oh no, I’m too young? I’m right here. I. Am. Right. Here. We. Are. Right. Here. The Proof That We Are Not Too Young. “Too young” doesn’t exist.
In honour of disability pride month, we made a disability Pride Knight! Stay proud! ⚔️🌈
